Upcoming CE Event This Week!

Family First Home Companions is partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association of Long Island to offer a continuing education series beginning this Thursday, February 20th.  The first program titled, Effective Communication Strategies and Understanding and Responding to Dementia Related Behaviors, will be held at the Alzheimer’s Association’s located at 300 Broadhollow Road, (lower level Conference Room A), in Melville, NY at 8:30 AM.  This program will be two CE credits for licensed social workers and certified nurse case managers.

Individuals living with dementia often experience changes in behavior that can be confusing to friends and family. These behaviors are a form of communication, and are essential to understanding the needs of the person with dementia. For caregivers, learning to decode messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language can help both parties to connect and communicate in meaningful ways.

There is still time to register for this program!  To register, please call 800-272-3900 or email Maribeth Madigan, mamadigan@alz.org.
