IF YOU ARE A VETERAN OR THE SURVIVING SPOUSE OF A VETERAN YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT THERE IS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE TO YOU. The Veteran's Financial Assistance Program is a pension benefit funded by the government for Veterans or their surviving spouses who are in need of non-medical home care. If qualified, the Veteran or surviving spouse would receive financial assistance to help pay for home care services.

THERE IS NO COST TO THE VETERAN OR SURVIVING SPOUSE TO APPLY.

Eligibility is determined based on service during a declared war period, income limitations, liquid assets, and a medically documented disability by a physician.

As a Veteran or surviving spouse, there are no costs associated with applying for the Veteran's Financial Assistance program.

3.What are the declared periods of war?

WWI April 6, 1917 through November 11, 1918
WWII December 7, 1941 through December 31, 1946
Korea June 27, 1950 through January 31, 1955
Vietnam August 5, 1964 through May 7, 1975
Gulf War August 2, 1990 through a date to be set by law

4. Do I have to go to a VA physician?

No, you can continue to use your own physician.
