Suffolk's Community Resources for Seniors


Did you know that Suffolk County has 225,000 senior citizens?  The local area agency on aging located in Hauppauge at the H.Lee Dennison building provides services and information for Suffolk County's senior population.  The services offered through the county are affordable and accessible to anyone who needs them.  Some of the valuable programs offered include:

- adult day care
- ombudsman service - advoctates for patients living in nursing homes.  These individuals aim to protect each person's rights to ensure they are getting what they need.
- friendly phone calls and reassurance.
- meals on wheels.
- information and referrals.
- case management.
- respite care.
- legal counseling.
- benefits counseling.
