Seniors and Dehydration

Dehydration among the senior population can cause serious health issues.  It can lead to unsteady balance, dizziness, forgetfulness, disorientation, deep rapid breathing, sunken eyes, and poor skin elasticity.  Since seniors have a reduced sense of thirst dehydration is one of the most frequent causes of hospitalization after age 65.

To avoid dehydration try including these foods into the daily diet:

Apples, applesauce, apricots, asparagus, avocados, bananas, bell peppers, blueberries, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cherries, corn, cucumber, grapes, honeydew, lettuce, mangoes, peaches, pears, strawberries, and watermelon.
